Halloween in Herron-Morton Place is a community favorite. For trick-or-treating families, festivities usually begin in the Herron-Morton Place Park. The Neighborhood Association gives pizza to excited waist-high superheroes, werewolves, elves, and steampunk cats. Parents get annual group photos of the trick-or-treaters. Then the Park bursts at the seams, and trick-or-treaters spill out onto the sidewalks.
In recent years, wonderful neighbors, led by T.R. Fox, facilitated closure of North New Jersey St to traffic, for safer trick-or-treating. Last year, local news stations came to Herron-Morton Place to film the festivities.
We are so sad to cancel Pizza in the Park this year. The Mayor and Marion County Board of Health provide Guidelines for Fall activities and suggestions for less traditional ways of celebrating.
And we are so grateful to neighbors who keep the spirit of Halloween in Herron-Morton Place alive, with (un)lively Home decor! Board members will canvas the neighborhood this weekend looking for the spookiest, funniest and/or most innovative creations. The top three winners will receive a $50 gift card from a local business. Winners will be announced at the next Association meeting on November 2.
Have a safe and happy Halloween!
